In support of retention efforts, Multicultural Affairs coordinates the Enrichment and Mentoring Program (EMP).
The key components of EMP are:
Individualized support service provided by Academic Coordinators An Academic Coordinator is assigned to each student to provide individualized academic support and mentoring.
Meeting with an Academic Coordinator on a regular basis serves to help the student stay focused and motivated, and accountable to their
academic, personal and goals.
Mid-term evaluation process When students enroll in EMP, they grant the program permission to request mid-term evaluations from their instructors.
These evaluations indicate the instructors assessment of the student overall performance at mid-semester. This process allows Academic
Coordinators to collaborate with the faculty to monitor the students progress and facilitate their academic success by the completion of the
semester.
Development workshopsDevelopment workshops assist students with developing the academic and professional skills necessary to be successful in
the classroom. Workshops cover such topics as time management, note-taking, test preparation, course management, organization, and interpersonal
communication.
